Dear everyone.
The second day of November was a dull and misty. Most of Britain was enveloped in low cloud, and we couldn’t see very far. Many airports were in pandemonium. Flights were cancelled or directed to other places.
November is the season of ‘mists and mellow fruitfulness’. Bright coloured leaves and berries have replaced many flowers. Although we are entering a darker season of the year, the autumn colours are still richly represented on the trees- giving us a great deal of pleasure; but foggy days can be a real problem. They limit our vision and make us travel more cautiously, and take, as it were, ‘one step at a time.’
There are stages in our life-experience too when we cannot see the way forward clearly. Although we feel the need to have objectives that have long-term significance, we all have to learn the art of travelling at a speed that is appropriate to our circumstances.
However if we learn to travel according to our visibility, it is amazing how much more we will be able to take in .Moving at the right speeds, will enable us to see, for instance more opportunities to relate well to those around us, and be ‘fruitful people.’
St Paul reminds us that ‘the fruits of The Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.’
Let us take heart. We may find that ’Misty patches’ that slow us up provide us with the most fruitful times in learning about things that matter most of all!
Every blessing, David.
